These are sessions where techniques are repeated to ingrain muscle memory.
Every BJJ technique typically has a few key steps that must be done in order to pull the technique off while rolling. Students need to have the steps ingrained into their muscle memory to execute the moves properly.
There are already a lot of other variables (strategies, tactics, etc.) while live rolling that requires students to think. That is why having the techniques ingrained is key!
While the typical term is muscle memory, in reality, it's about getting the neural pathways in the brain to fire repeatedly. Thus, making the connection stronger. This typically is done through repetition.
A drilling session will consist of techniques for the purpose of skill acquisition. There is so much more than just rolling to get better at BJJ, join us for drilling sessions too!
